Special announcement!
Looking back at a successful first UK virtual world careers fair in Second Life, we intend to run another event in the new year, with more, world-leading companies. So register now and be the first to find out more!
About the event
I-Jobs for real is probably the boldest, most progressive recruiting event in years. Joining job seekers from across the globe, you’ll step into a virtual world of employment opportunity. Once there, you’ll meet with recruiters and hiring managers for some of the world’s top companies. The first edition, held on 16, 17 and 18 October 2007, featured KPMG, RBS and YELL. We intend to host a second edition in the new year with more world-leading companies.
Sound interesting? Well, here are some specifics:
- It all happens in the virtual world of Second Life™
- You get one-to-one attention
- It’s a platform to really sell who you are
- You can ask whatever you want
- You get to find out whether the company is right for you
So what is Second Life™? Well, it’s a virtual reality – online. Launched in 2003, it now has around 8.7 million registered users, 35,000 of whom inhabit this virtual world at any given point. It’s kind of like the future, in the present.
Who is it for?
To take advantage of i-Jobs for Real, you don’t necessarily need to be switched on to the latest trends in the virtual world. You don’t even need to know all that much about computers either. You just need to be inquisitive – and creative – and on the look out for innovative ways to make yourself seen. You probably realise that finding the job of your dreams isn’t always about having the best qualifications – sometimes it’s just knowing how best to stand out. So if you’re reading this, congratulations. Three of the world’s top companies are about to notice you.
How does it work?
The i-Jobs for Real careers fair runs over three day. As soon as we fix the agenda for the event we will post the list of participating companies and the roles they intend to recruit for under the Featured Companies page on this website. You will be able to register for any role that is suitable, upload your CV and assuming your qualifications match what the employer is looking for – sit back and wait to receive an invite. In view of the high level of interest in the event, we recommend as soon as you have registered, you set up your Avatar.
Once your interview is scheduled, we'll send you a link to bring you directly to our island, where you can receive training on how to use Second Life™ or, alternatively, just sign-on at your allotted time and you'll be teleported from ou r island to the company's unique island residence. You'll then chat, ask questions and discover more about the roles you have a specific interest in.
In the meantime you can have a look at the system requirements.
